Haleakala National Park will waive entrance fees on five days in 2020 in recognition of significant holidays and events, the park announced Thursday.
The free entrance days will take place on:
• Jan. 20, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
• April 18, First day of National Park Week/National Junior Ranger Day.
• Aug. 25, National Park Service birthday.
• Sept. 26, National Public Lands Day.
• Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
Free entrance days do not include sunrise reservations or admittance to the park between the hours of 3 and 7 a.m. People planning to view the sunrise must still make viewing reservations in advance at recreation.gov/ticket/facility/253731. Reservations are $1 per vehicle.
Haleakala National Park also offers free camping on a first-come, first-served basis, free daily ranger-led programs and a free Junior Ranger activity book where participants can earn a badge.
